Mason Bee Lodge

I'm thinking  that when you think of a Lodge, you sure as heck don't have Bees in mind.  Did you know that there ar 140 species of Mason (also know as Osmia), Bees in North America an over 200.00 species of all Bees ovrall, some still unnamed?

I didn't but as I was searching for a new product to write about I came across The Mason Bee Lodge, and started to read up on them…very interesting.

Bees are adapted for feeding on nectar and pollen, the former primarily as an energy source and the latter primarily for protien and other nutrients.  Most pollen is used for food for larve.

Pollination is the process by which pollen is transferred in the reproduction of plants…this whole process is extremely inportant for our crops and flowers, whether your are a farmer or a backyard garderner enthusiast, we need pollenination to make things grow and therefore we need those Bees…period!

This is where The  Mason Bee Lodge.comes in.  Mason Bees are unable to tunnel holes ftheir nests – they rely on existing holes of the right size. By providing nesting sites, we can help these bees fulfill their life's mission, while they provide us with better quality gardens and crops.

And here's some really great news, this Mason Bee Lodge is made of durable recycled redwood and of course made right here in the USA…a win win for everyone and of course the all important Bees.  The Lodge measures 11″ x 5 ” x  5″ and is available at songbirdgarden.com for $56.99 but on sale now for $52.99.  There is also a discount if you buy 2 or more, perfect for folks that have a larger piece of property with larger gardens and crops.  Enjoy!
